Police are looking for the person who shot a teenager four times at a North Amityville barbecue and left him to die.
Police say Christopher Toney, 19, of North Amityville, dropped off a friend at the Jefferson Avenue party before 1 a.m. Sunday. According to police, Toney got into an argument with two of the partygoers and tried to leave, but was shot twice in the leg, once in the arm and once in the back of the head.
Toney is listed in stable condition at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Sean Abrahams, of Wyandanch, believes it's unlikely that the crime will be solved. "Young people [are] dying all over the place now, so I'm hoping he'll recover from the shooting," he says. "You know how everybody is. They [aren't] going to snitch on nobody."
The incident marks the third area shooting in two weeks. On July 5, Livingstone Kirton, 48, was gunned down at his Adams Avenue home in Wyandanch.
The next day, Jaquan Jones, 18, was shot and killed on North 18th Street. Both murders remain unsolved.
Anyone with information about any of the cases is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
