(AP) - A Long Island man has been accused of drunken driving after his car slammed into a tree, killing an 18-year-old passenger.
Nassau County police say the fatal accident occurred early Friday in Plandome.
Investigators say two vehicles were driving on Plandome Road when 18-year-old Juan Guzman's car struck a tree. Passenger Anthony Saldana was pronounced dead at a hospital. Guzman was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated. He'll be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
The Nassau County District Attorney's office did not know if Guzman had retained a lawyer yet.
Police say the second vehicle occupied by three young men struck a utility pole. The three were treated and released at a hospital. No charges have been filed.
