A 16-year-old boy is dead after a shooting inside a NYCHA building in Sheepshead Bay.
The shooting happened Monday evening at 2957 Avenue X.
Police say they were called just before 6 p.m. for a report of a shooting inside the building. When officers arrived, they found the teen unconscious with a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health, where he later died.
Video from the scene shows several police cars and ambulances lined up outside the building as crews responded.
Right now, the teen’s name has not been released as officials work to notify his family.
There have been no arrests, and investigators have not said what led up to the shooting or whether the teen was the intended target.
The investigation is ongoing.
