The Team Long Island 12-and-under girls hockey team won the championship in their first season playing together as the only all-girls team in the league.
Team Long Island is a highly competitive Tier I and Tier II girls travel ice hockey organization based out of Dix Hills.
The team clinched the Long Island Amateur Hockey League (LIAHL) Championship title with a shootout win against the New York Cyclones, the organization said in a Facebook post.
Up next, the team will compete in the state championship this weekend in Buffalo.
