Thousands of homeowners rushing to file property tax grievances before Tuesday's deadline packed town halls across Long Island Friday.
Homeowners can petition towns to lower their property tax assessment - thus hoping to pay the town less money.
"I think my house is overvalued especially since over a few years the prices have gone down dramatically," says George Sorensen, of Huntington Station.
Filing a grievance isn't an automatic victory for homeowners, as it could result in a higher tax bill - but many are willing to take that chance.
"I heard that there are a lot of people doing this, and I don't want to be the only one not saving money," says Mirko Pavlovich, of Greenlawn, who adds he already saved a couple thousand dollars from filing a grievance.
