Lake Ronkonkoma residents met with representatives of T-Mobile Wednesday regarding cell tower construction in their neighborhood.
The cellphone carrier recently reached a settlement with LIPA, PSEG and National Grid that will allow it to construct a new 130-foot-tall cell tower on LIPA-controlled property.
As News 12 has reported, many residents who live in the area have voiced their angst over the plan for years now. They are concerned about the construction process, as well as the effect the tower will have on their property values and their health.
The T-Mobile representatives would not comment on the health issue. They also declined to speak with News 12 Long Island. They did promise residents that the construction process would be completed within a month or two, and that it would be clean and contained.
T-Mobile plans to begin construction on the site later this month.
A PSEG spokesperson declined to comment. News 12 Long Island also reached out to LIPA, but they have not responded.
