Swimmers were allowed back in the water in Long Beach Wednesday following a ban due to strong rip currents on the South Shore.
City officials say their chief lifeguard assessed the conditions and made that decision.
However, officials are still urging everyone to swim near a lifeguard.
On Monday night, a man drowned after going into the water without a lifeguard on duty.
