Police are searching for the suspect in a stabbing that left one man dead and a woman in critical condition in Hempstead.

Police found the body of a Hispanic man, believed to be in his late 20s, on Lawson Street yesterday at around 7 a.m.

According to police, an 18-year-old female was also stabbed multiple times. The female stumbled about a block down the road looking for help before collapsing in front of a home.

Police have not yet released the victims' names.

In response to this crime and others in the area lately, a new group called the Law Enforcement Alliance is reaching out to get residents, schools and churches involved in anti-crime efforts. The group plans to hold a meeting this Saturday.

Nassau police are urging anyone who may have information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
