The man charged in last week’s fatal crash at a Deer Park nail salon appeared in court on Friday.

Steven Schwally, of Dix Hills, is accused of crashing into Hawaii Nail & Spa last Friday, killing four people and injuring several others.

Prosecutors say he had 18 beers the evening before the incident. They say he was still drunk when he drove his car into the business at a high rate of speed.

Prosecutors have also stated that he almost hit people at a nearby Kohl’s and accelerated in the opposite lane of traffic prior to the crash.

Schwally has pleaded not guilty to the one misdemeanor count he is currently facing. It is unknown if any more charges will be brought against him.
