Police say they've caught the man behind a string of armed robberies in Suffolk County.
Shaun McNeice, 29, was arrested Saturday, minutes after the latest incident at a Shell gas station in East Northport.
Officials say the previous robberies occurred along Jericho Turnpike and Commack Road, and targeted two different 7-Eleven shops, a Speedway gas station and Finnian's Pub. In all, police say McNeice has been linked to at least seven robberies at five businesses. He allegedly robbed the same 7-Eleven in East Northport three times in September.
Investigators say McNeice was seen on surveillance video wearing a skull mask. When he was arrested, McNeice was carrying stolen cash from the Shell station, plus a skull mask and a loaded gun, according to police.
After her son appeared in court on Sunday, McNeice's mother said she was shocked by the charges, and added that her son has been struggling with a drug problem.
"They do whatever they can to get whatever they can to continue their drug addiction, and something has to be done to address the issue," said Doreen McNeice. "I can't do it myself. I'm a single mother with four children and I had no idea of what was going on."
