The Patchogue-Medford varsity football team has forfeited its final game of the season due to allegations of vandalism, according to an email from the superintendent.

Players from the team are accused of vandalizing a bathroom at a Lindenhurst school during a recent road game.

The game scheduled against Sachem High School East would have been the final high school game for seniors on the team and the school's Veterans Recognition Game.

Superintendent Donna Jones said in a statement, "This decision was made after careful consideration and in light of the fact that following multiple meetings with team members this past Monday and Tuesday, no player was willing to come forward to take responsibility for the defacement."

The superintendent of the Lindenhurst Union Free School District thanked Jones for her professionalism and for being proactive.
