Underdog Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi is expected to throw some serious verbal jabs at State Attorney General Eliott Spitzer when the first televised democratic gubernatorial debate airs Tuesday.
Suozzi and Spitzer are battling over who will win the Democratic nomination to run for governor. The latest Marist poll gives Suozzi ten percent of the vote to Spitzer?s 75 percent. At least one political strategist says Suozzi will need to pack quite a punch if he wants to close the gap in poll numbers.
Since vowing to finish the race, Suozzi has gone into attack mode. He ambushed Spitzer at a campaign stop in Mineola by asking him for a detailed tax plan.
The upcoming debate is the only one scheduled to air. While Suozzi has agreed to several more debates, Spitzer has only committed to one. The Democratic primary will take place September 12. Related Information
