Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi talked about property taxes and the race for governor in his fifth State of the County address Tuesday.
Suozzi discussed lowering taxes and other steps to keep Nassau County?s economy growing. Suozzi says the problems may be on Long Island, but they must be solved in Albany. He pledged that if he is elected governor, he will make the changes necessary to improve Long Island. Suozzi says he will also name the group that will redevelop the Nassau Coliseum and surrounding properties within a week.
Critics say Suozzi made the same promises while running for mayor of Glen Cove. Nassau minority leader Peter Schmitt (R-Massapequa) says if Suozzi wins the race for governor, it will be less than six weeks before he starts saying problems can only be solved in Washington, D.C.
