News 12 Storm Watch Meteorologist Sam Augeri says it could feel like 100 degrees across parts of Long Island later this week.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
WEATHER TO WATCH: Tuesday is highlighted on the 10-day. Possible weather to watch for afternoon showers and storms.
HEAT AND HUMIDITY: On the rise through the week. The hottest days will be Thursday through Saturday where the heat index could be close to 100 degrees with the air temperature near 90. If we hit 90 three days in a row it will be the first heatwave of the season.
WHAT'S NEW: Dangerous heat builds Thursday to Friday. Possible heat wave (Wednesday to Friday).
OVERNIGHT: Partly cloudy and warm with lows near 72 degrees. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
TUESDAY: Warm and humid with sun and clouds. Chance for scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and evening. Highs near 84. Showers and storms end at night with lows near 70. South winds 5 to 10 mph.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny, hot, and humid. Highs near 87. Lows near 73.
THURSDAY: Mostly sunny, hot, and humid. Slight chance of a stray shower or storm during the evening. Highs near 87. Lows near 74.
FRIDAY: Hot and humid with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs near 90 with feels like temperatures near 100. Lows near 75.
