Suffolk County lawmakers grilled Police Commissioner Richard Dormer Thursday over recent police cuts they say are putting the public at risk.
Dormer?s budget cuts are under fire after Brentwood residents and the police union say it took way too long to process a crime scene last week after a man was killed and left on the street. Because of the cuts, no lead homicide detectives were on duty at the time and had to be called in from home.
Dormer defended his officers? response saying the crime scene took a long time to process because it was so big.
