Suffolk County lawmakers are stepping in to try and provide property tax relief to residents.
Officials are proposing a plan in which school districts combine their money to buy in bulk. According to experts, the combined spending power of all Suffolk school systems could trim high dollar budgets. Lawmakers say security and health insurance are two areas where pooling cash might save money.
Although no decisions were made Tuesday, lawmakers say they are sending a message that they see the warning signs and are trying to address them.
