Authorities are searching for the suspect responsible for a case of animal abuse in Suffolk County.
The Suffolk SPCA says someone was walking in a wooded area near Grove Avenue in Patchogue Wednesday when they found a cat and four dead kittens abandoned inside a travel carrier.
SPCA Capt. Paul Llobell says that when his team arrived on scene, the mother cat was huddled around her kittens, unaware they had died.
The mother is expected to eventually be put up for adoption.
The SPCA is offering $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible.
