The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office hosted its first wellness conference Thursday at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood.
The
event focused on discussing the unique stressors that impact public safety professionals and members of law enforcement.
Organizers say the goal is to provide peer support during times of need.
"One of the things that we want our staff, and any occupation, to realize is that there is support and there is help for them when they're having difficulties,” said Suffolk Sheriff Errol Toulon.
The office’s wellness unit began in late 2022 and has assisted officers over 3,500 times.
