Suffolk police are searching for the person or persons responsible for vandalizing Islip High School early Friday morning.
School officials say custodians found a large swastika and the letters KKK spray painted across the entrance to the school around 6:30 a.m. The graffiti was immediately covered and was washed off a few hours later.
Custodians say the gate was not forcibly opened and they have no idea how the incident happened. Police believe the perpetrator jumped a locked fence sometime after 11 p.m. Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
