Patchogue drivers and their families were pulled over and surprised by Santa Claus with presents instead of traffic tickets over the weekend.
Suffolk Police Officer Albert Acevedo of the Fifth Precinct, who dressed up as Santa Claus, and his partner pulled over people but handed them candy and gifts instead of tickets.
"For once, it's a great feeling to pull cars over. A lot of times we're pulling them over and we're the bearer of bad news," Officer Brianna Yarborough told News 12 Long Island. "A day like today, it makes you happy. You feel good inside."
The gifts handed out on behalf of the Suffolk Police Department included $50 gift cards to Target.
Officer Acevedo said the best part was seeing the smiles on the children's faces.
