Suffolk police officers rescue woman whose car hit guardrail, went into the water

Officers Thomas Ciota, Sean Roche, Steven Rathjen, Michael Magioncalda and Ryan Kelly were able to get into the water and rescue the woman from her car.

Five Suffolk County police officers are credited with saving a woman in Mastic Tuesday when her car struck a guardrail and went into the water.
Police say the incident happened on Hampton Avenue at the intersection of Riviera Drive. They say the car landed in the Forge River shortly after 1 p.m.
Officers Thomas Ciota, Sean Roche, Steven Rathjen, Michael Magioncalda and Ryan Kelly were able to get into the water and rescue the woman from her car.
The woman was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries.
