Suffolk police: Driver killed, 12-year-old passenger injured in Lindenhurst crash

Suffolk County police said in a statement that Kiritkumar Vyas, 56, of Babylon, was driving eastbound on Route 109 around 7 a.m. when he allegedly failed to stop at a red light.

Police say a woman was killed in Lindenhurst on Sunday morning during a motor vehicle crash.
Suffolk County police said in a statement that Kiritkumar Vyas, 56, of Babylon, was driving eastbound on Route 109 around 7 a.m. when he allegedly failed to stop at a red light.
His vehicle then collided with a 2010 Honda Civic being driven by Giuseppa Giordano, 59, who was driving on Straight Path.
Giordano, of West Babylon, was transported from the scene to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Her 12-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
