Suffolk police say 12 people were arrested at a sobriety checkpoint in Patchogue Friday night.
The checkpoint was set up on Waverly Avenue near Sunrise Highway. Nearly 1,000 cars were stopped.
Those arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated were identified as Bradley Becker, 41, of East Islip; Theresa White, 53, of Holtsville; Cyntha Dauge, 51, of East Northport; Robert Guildayle, 55, of Lindenhurst; Peter Zorzenon, 59, of Bellport; Jessica Williams, 31, of Port Jefferson Station; Erol Caypinar, 30, of East Patchogue; Tara Hamilton-Bilicki, 41, of West Babylon; Daniel Fuentes, 25, of Central Islip; Roberto Peraza, 31, of Copiague; Daniel Kilbourne, 50, of Islip Terrace; and Tiffani Capers, 27, of Bay Shore.
Police across both counties say they have extra officers on the lookout for drunken drivers over the holiday weekend.
