Suffolk police have arrested a suspect they say was behind nine robberies at eight different banks in the county.
Police say Troy Brinkhuis, of Holbrook, was arrested Friday morning on Sunrise Highway in West Babylon.
His alleged robberies began on April 8.
During the final robbery at a Capital One in North Babylon, the teller told police that the suspect apologized to her after she handed over the cash. "I'm sorry I have to do this to you," he allegedly told her. "This will be the last time I'm doing this. I'm sorry."
Brinkhuis, 46, was charged with nine counts of third-degree robbery. He is due in court again on Thursday.
