Suffolk PD: Male driver killed in fiery single-vehicle crash in Smithtown

A driver was killed early Sunday morning during a fiery single-vehicle crash in front of St. Patrick’s Church in Smithtown, according to a release from Suffolk police.

The male driver was traveling westbound on East Main Street in a 2006 Honda Civic when “he lost control of the vehicle, which overturned and caught fire in front of 280 East Main St. at approximately 3:45 a.m."

The driver, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene. The car was impounded.

Suffolk police are asking anyone who may have information about the crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8451.
