A Suffolk police officer has been released from the hospital after he was stabbed in the face by a suspect.
The unidentified Emergency Services officer nearly had his nose severed responding to a domestic incident on Oakland Avenue in Central Islip Saturday.
Police say Mark Caraway, who barricaded himself inside a home, was armed with knives.
According to police, he was shot after stabbing the officer in the face.
Caraway is now in critical condition.
