The mother of a 16-year-old killed in 2017 after 400-pound log fell on his head says she is angry and speaking out about a decision she says could lead to more kids getting hurt.
Sayyida Mileto's son, Joshua, died in August 2017 after the log fell on head during a pre-season campus training drill.
“I have to speak up when I see something wrong because that's how children get hurt,” said Mileto about a football coach in the district she was told will be appointed head football coach.
Mileto tells News 12 that she and her husband were told at a meeting Monday night at the high school, that the new head football coach at Sachem East Sachem is of the coaches who was on the field the day her son was hurt.
Mileto says she and her family were promised that wouldn’t happen.
News 12 reached out to the district for more details and received a response saying, as per the superintendent's office, "Sachem does not comment on personnel decisions."
