Babies across the nation and on Long Island are dying - and now local officials are sounding the alarm about unsafe sleeping practices.

Karen McCumiskey is the perinatal education coordinator at Good Samaritan University Hospital and teaches expecting and new parents many things, including how to properly put your baby to bed.

Health experts say babies should follow the ABCs of Safe sleep: A is Alone, B is on their back and C is in a crib.

In Suffolk County, there have been 22 infant deaths due to unsafe sleep in the last three years, according to officials.

Karen McCumiskey says no parents leave the hospital without having the safe sleep information and they are hoping caretakers will implement it that at home
