The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office says it has linked a .357 revolver recovered in a gun sweep to the shooting deaths of three college students in Newark.
Reputed MS-13 gang member Alvaro DelGado was arrested after authorities allegedly found the murder weapon at his Bay Shore home. District Attorney Thomas Spota says DelGado had nothing to do with those murders, but MS-13 members pass around and recycle weapons used in crimes.
Wilbur Porter, 43, of Deer Park, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly selling a fully automatic machine gun pistol. Spota also says investigators found 10 handguns and other firearms at the home of a West Babylon man on May 31.
Terrance Aeriel, 18, Iofemi Hightower, 20 and Deshawn Harvey, 20, were murdered last August in a Newark schoolyard. Police said they were forced to kneel near a wall and shot at close range.
Natasha Aeriel, Terrence Aeriel's sister, survived and has helped police identify suspects in the triple murder.
Six people, including two juveniles, have been arrested in connection with the shootings.
