Angry residents are demanding answers from the Town of Islip after Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says asbestos have been detected at another park in Central Islip.
Spota says asbestos were found in piles of debris at the PAL field on South Clayton Street and Lowell Avenue. Some residents are especially outraged because their children had played sports there.
For more than three hours, residents vented their frustrations to the Town of Islip Council at the Brentwood Library last night. Some residents claim the council knew about the problem for awhile. Councilman Anthony Senft denies this and says they only found out when Spota alerted them.
The council says more testing is being done at other parks in the town. Another town hall will be held at the Brentwood Recreation Center on May 20.
