A welfare check led Suffolk County police to discover a murder-suicide inside a Port Jefferson home.

According to investigators, police said they arrived at 135 Oakwood Rd. around 11 a.m., after Valerie Kopetic, 63, didn't show up to work earlier in the day on Monday.

Once inside, officers discovered Kopetic and her domestic partner, Paul Trefimovich, 68, both dead from gunshot wounds.

Suffolk County police believe Tremfimovich shot Kopetic, then himself.

News 12 asked Suffolk County police if they had previously responded to the home for prior domestic incidents, but officials said they didn't have that information at this time.
