Couple dead in Port Jefferson murder-suicide

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives say a murder-suicide occurred in Port Jefferson Monday morning.
Officers responded to 135 Oakwood Road just after 11 a.m. for a welfare check call after 63-year-old Valerie Kopetic failed to appear at her job that morning.
When officers arrived, they discovered two residents of the home dead from gunshot wounds.
An investigation determined that 68-year-old Paul Trefimovich killed Kopetic, his domestic partner, and then fatally shot himself.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
