Suffolk County issued an advisory against bathing at 63 beaches Sunday due to yesterday's heavy rainfall.

"The advisory is based on the potential that the levels of bacteria at these beaches exceed New York State standards," a release from the county said.

According to the county, "Health officials recommend that bathing and other water contact be suspended in affected areas until the waters have been flushed by two successive tidal cycle - at least a 24-hour period - after the rain has ended."

The advisory will be lifted on Monday.
