Huntington High School student Chloe Donovan is teaching ballet to kids who may not have the opportunity otherwise, under her own nonprofit organization, “Community Ballet Collective.”

Chloe tells News 12 how much ballet changed her life with discipline, value and confidence. She says she hopes to instill the same for the young girls to bring them the same joy she received from the art.

With the help of her sister Annie, they teach class once a week at Huntington's TRICYA, and have been prepping the girls to perform since September with community donated ballerina shoes.

The Ballet group performed at the Town of Huntington's Black History Month event, "From the Ground Up - The Power of Us" at Walt Whitman High School on Thursday evening. They paid homage to Misty Copeland and "Swan Lake."

“Misty Copeland's 'Swan Lake' reminds us that history can change and that courage and dedication can help break barriers for future generations," says Chloe.

Once Chloe graduates and goes to college, Annie will continue teaching as spreading this joy has grown dear to their heart.
