Students on Long Island participate in walkout to take action against gun violence

Schools on Long Island, including in the Northport-East Northport School District and the Port Washington School District, participated in the walkout.

Students on Long Island and around the country took action against gun violence.          
The group Students Demand Action called for students across the country to walk out of class at 12 p.m. today. 
Schools on Long Island, including in the Northport-East Northport School District and the Port Washington School District, participated in the walkout.  
In Northport-East Northport, teachers were notified that any students who want to participate in the walkout should be allowed to do so.  
Northport High School principal Robert Dennis said in a note to teachers, “We as a school community will work to provide a safe, structured, and orderly venue for students to express themselves and be heard.”
