High school students are getting an education on criminal justice at Nassau BOCES Barry Tech in Westbury.

Students who attend classes through the Police Science and Criminal Justice program split their time between the center and local schools. The two-year course teaches various aspects of what happens in federal, state and city levels of law enforcement.

By completing the program, students will qualify to be a security guard and have training in CPR.

"It gives us a feel of what it will be like when we get into the real world," says Shianne Maldonado, of Carle Place.
