Police: Mastic Beach man brought 3 explosive devices into Stony Brook University Hospital
A person has been arrested for bringing explosive devices into Stony Brook University Hospital late Tuesday night, according to police.
Police say a hospital security guard called State University Police around 9 p.m. Tuesday about a suspicious man. Authorities took the man, Robert Roden, 33, into custody before calling Suffolk police because of a suspicious package in his backpack.
Suffolk County Emergency Service Section's Bomb Squad determined Roden had three explosive devices and was arrested, according to police.
On Wednesday, police say a search warrant was executed at Roden's Mastic Beach home. They say an investigation found more explosives within the home.
Police say an investigation in conjunction with the FBI is ongoing.
The hospital went on lockdown and patients on two floors of the hospital were moved. The lockdown was lifted around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Roden has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Contempt, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Roden is scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip Thursday.
