Driver who led police on chase in Suffolk hospitalized after crash

Posted: Updated:

A person who led police a chase in Suffolk County Saturday morning was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Officials say the suspect stole a vehicle from the BP gas station on Express Drive North and Wheeler Road in Hauppauge just before 10 a.m.

They say the owner of the car was able to track it by using an app. Police located the vehicle in a parking lot on North Ocean Avenue in Farmingville shortly after and attempted to pull the driver over.

That's when they say the driver took off. Police followed the suspect to Horseblock Road in Medford where they say the suspect lost control and struck a tree.

The driver was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
