Police say a Valley Stream man is facing charges for recording cellphone video of a neighbor while she showered.
It happened Saturday night. Detectives say 31-year-old Paul Cotugno, of East Mineola Avenue, snuck into the victim's backyard and used a chair to look into a bathroom window to record video of his 25-year-old neighbor while she showered.
Police say the victim screamed, and Cotugno fled on foot. He was arrested a short time later.
Under the state’s new bail reform law, Cotugno was released on an appearance ticket – instead of being held overnight and brought to court in the morning.
He is due to appear in court on Jan. 23.
When he is arraigned, he will be charged with unlawful surveillance and trespassing.
