Police say a body was found on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Roosevelt.
According to police, the body was discovered around 9:30 Monday morning by road workers in the tree line off the southbound ramp to M7 west. Police say the deceased person is a male.
Residents who live nearby say this type of thing is becoming all too familiar.
As News 12 has reported, in August of 2018 just a few miles up the road the dismembered remains of suspected MS-13 gang member Carlos Rivas-Majano were found buried in a sump in East Meadow, not far from the Meadowbrook Parkway. Other searches for human remains have taken place along the parkway's tree line in recent years as well. Police have not indicated if they believe this latest discovery is related to MS-13, but people who live nearby say they are once again worried about what's taking place in their community.
State police are asking for anyone with information to please call 631-756-3300.
