Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Sam Augeri says it will be an unsettled week with some days of heavy rain.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Julian Seawright breaks down the details of the impending storm.
HEADLINES:
  • A mild and unsettled week on Long Island with a few rounds of rain into the weekend.
  • Round 1: Rain after midnight through Tuesday. Expect showers and an easterly breeze from time to time with under 1 inch of rain expected. Nuisance rain with the wet weather tapering off by Tuesday evening.
  • Round 2: Wednesday afternoon into Thursday afternoon. Potential for some moderate to heavy showers Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Rain totals 1 to 2 inches. Flood risk is still low with this system but there will be some bigger puddles around which will make travel a pain in the neck Thursday morning. Drying out by Thursday evening with nice weather Friday.
  • Round 3: Rain developing by lunch time Saturday and continuing into Sunday morning. Still some questions with this storm but if we get some more heavy rain we could have some minor flooding around Long Island with the three rain events
OVERNIGHT: Cloudy with showers after midnight. Lows near 42 with easterly winds 5 to 15 mph. Sunrise: 6:19
TUESDAY: Cloudy with showers likely. Highs near 52 with easterly winds 10 to 15 mph. Sunset: 5:49. Drying out at night with mostly cloudy skies. Lows near 42. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
WEDNESDAY: Cloudy with rain returning by the afternoon. Highs near 52. Chance for some heavy rain at night. Lows near 45.
THURSDAY: Cloudy with rain in the morning, drying out for the afternoon. Highs near 50. Partly cloudy at night with lows near 37.
FRIDAY: Sam's Pick of the Week. Sun and clouds. Highs near 48. Lows near 38.
SATURDAY: Cloudy and turning breezy with showers developing by noon. Rain showers for the afternoon into Saturday night with highs near 47. Lows near 41.
SUNDAY: Cloudy and breezy with morning showers, improving for the afternoon. Highs near 50. Lows near 34
