I hope you have been enjoying the nice and dry start to the week! Tonight will be more cloudy, breezy and chilly. There will be a spotty light rain shower chance developing after midnight.
The chance for a few light rain showers and drizzle will continue Wednesday under a mostly cloudy sky, but it will be mild with high temperatures around 50 degrees!
A cold front will give Long Island a better chance for some scattered light showers late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Showers will initially be in the form of rain, but can end as some spotty light snow showers as colder air rushes in Thursday morning. Any snow would lead to a scattered trace at worst.
Get ready to bundle up in layers again! The bigger impact will be the wind and the cold that follows the spotty mixed showers. Thursday afternoon, the wind will pick up and it will start to feel like the teens and 20s quickly. Wind gusts will be between 20 and 40 mph. Thursday night and Friday morning, wind chills will be down into the single digits.
After a cold, breezy and dry day on Friday, the weekend looks decent with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. A stray shower cannot be ruled out Saturday night into Sunday, but it is looking like a fairly dry weekend overall. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday and the entire week next week looks colder with high temperatures in the 20s to low 30s.
