THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT
We have had widely scattered showers and a few downpours around today. There will still be a downpour chance, mostly over the East End through mid-evening. Generally, expect more dry than wet weather this evening, but have a rain jacket and umbrella with you just in case.
Temperatures mostly topped out in the 70s today and will cool back down through the 50s tonight. There will be a mainly cloudy sky overnight with some patchy drizzle and fog possible into Saturday morning.
GLOOMY SATURDAY?
There is a chance it stays pretty cloudy much of Saturday now. There is still the chance for a few breaks of sun at this time. Expect a mostly cloudy start to the day with a chance for patchy drizzle and fog in the morning. Then, a few breaks of sun should develop into the afternoon. It will be a much more seasonably feeling day with highs in the 50s to near 60 degrees.
SUNDAY RAIN
Sunday will be our next best chance for rain and we do need rain on Long Island considering the abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions. The rain on Sunday will not fix that problem, but it can help things slightly. Plan for off and on rain through the day with some dry time mixed in. A couple of scattered downpours will be possible. It will be cooler with highs in the middle 50s.
COLDER WEATHER COMING
Sunday night through Tuesday will be the coldest feeling weather over the next 10 days. Sunday night lows will drop into the middle to upper 30s. Highs on Monday will barely get to around 50 degrees and there will likely be some frost Monday night with lows in the lower to middle 30s. It will be quite cool again on Tuesday before warmer weather arrives again starting Wednesday with temperatures returning to the upper 50s to middle 60s.

WEDNESDAY: EARTH DAY -- Sun and clouds. Highs around 62 degrees. Lows near 44 degrees.
