News 12 Storm Watch Meteorologist Sam Augeri says the end of the workweek will bring light accumulations of snow ahead of a freezing start to the weekend.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
-A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Long Island from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with light snow of 1 to 3 inches expected. The evening will become slippery when snow stops and temperatures drop.
-Cold, blustery, and dry weather for the weekend.
-Warming temperatures for next week with some late week rain.
OVERNIGHT: Cloudy and cold with the chance of flurries. Lows near 25 degrees with west to north winds 5 to 10 mph. Sunrise: 7:13
FRIDAY: Cloudy with periods of snow. Light accumulations of 1 to 3 inches expected. Highs near 32 degrees. North winds 5 to 15 mph. Sunset: 4:54
FRIDAY NIGHT: Snow ends. Clearing and cold with lows near 18 degrees. Gusty northerly winds 10 to 20 mph with wind chills 5 to 10 degrees.
