STORM WATCH: Remnants of Debby could bring strong winds and severe storms to LI on Friday

News 12 Storm Watch Meteorologist Sam Augeri says a wind advisory is in effect for Long Island from 12 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday. Winds gusting up to 50+ mph are possible along with severe storms from the remnants of Debby.
HEADLINES:
  • Tracking remnants of Debby on Friday: Expect south winds 15 to 25 mph gusting up to 50+ mph with any strong to severe storms. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out. Chance for showers and storms to develop after 4 p.m. with the best chance of storms 7 p.m. to midnight. Rain totals 1 to 2 inches. Rough on the ocean with a high risk of rip currents, high surf advisory and gale warning.
  • Rain clears overnight with increasing sunshine on Saturday. Nice and warmer for the weekend with highs in the 80s.
OVERNIGHT: Cloudy with the chance for a few showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Lows near 70 degrees with southeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Sunrise: 5:57 a.m.
FRIDAY: Wind advisory. Mostly cloudy and breezy at times with showers and storms likely during the late afternoon and evening. Some storms could become strong to severe with damaging winds.
