A storm bringing some pockets of moderate to heavy
rain and strong winds has tapered off across Long Island.
News 12 meteorologists say at times during the storm, winds gusted near 45 to 50 mph in some areas. A
wind advisory is in effect for Suffolk County from midnight to 8 a.m.
Some street flooding was reported in some areas, and drivers were urged to give extra travel time
this morning.
A cold front is moving east over Long Island, and the weather is expected to improve this
afternoon.
For today, expect morning clouds and rain giving way to mostly sunny skies this afternoon
with highs near 72 degrees.
For tonight, expect clear skies, breezy and cooler temperatures with lows
near 58 degrees.
