Stony Brook University chosen as anchor institution for world-leading climate center

The center will be located on Governors Island in the city's harbor.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced Monday that Stony Brook University will serve as the anchor institution in a brand new $700 million climate solutions center.     
The 400,000 square foot campus will be dedicated to research, education and public programs to address the global climate crisis. 
According to the school, the New York Climate Exchange will be a first-of-its kind international center used to develop solutions for the climate crisis.
News 12 has been told it will have the potential to create thousands of jobs.
