A statue from a Sept. 11 memorial garden in Huntington Station was mysteriously returned Tuesday night after being stolen last week, residents say.
Kathryn Jones, of Huntington Station, says statues of a policeman and fireman were knocked off their mounts and taken on Thursday. They were part of the garden at East Rogues Path and Albermarle Avenue created by Eagle Scouts six years ago.
Though the policeman statue was returned, it was visibly damaged. Jones says she will be happy when the fireman statue is brought back.
The policeman statue was glued back together when it was returned. The fireman statue may have suffered greater damage.
