A driver was killed and three other people were injured in a two-car crash Wednesday on the Southern State Parkway, according to state police.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes west of Exit 35.
State police say a Toyota Sienna minivan with four people inside collided with a Toyota Camry and lost control. The Sienna then struck a tree off the parkway, and the Camry stopped on the shoulder.
Authorities say the Sienna driver, 18-year-old Aaron Jagroop, of Queens, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and died of his injuries. Two teenage passengers were taken to Good Samaritan and Stony Brook University hospitals in critical condition. A third passenger suffered injuries not considered life-threatening. Police say the Camry driver was unharmed.
The crash closed the parkway for hours eastbound at Exit 35.
State police ask anyone with information on the crash to call the Troop L headquarters at 631-756-3300.
