Suffolk County Off Track Betting, which owns Jake's 58, says a cybersecurity incident at Everi, the company that operates New York state's video lottery gaming central system, caused the closure.
Jake's 58 says it has been assured by Everi that no personal, identifiable player information has been breached. It says it will continue to monitor the situation and is currently coming up with a plan to reinforce customer safety. Those improvements are still in discussion, but the casino says it doesn't believe credit monitoring is necessary.
Phil Boyle, the president of Suffolk OTB, says they "will make up the time lost to our customers and any protection to their personal data which again we do not believe was breached in any way-- we will make sure our customers are protected, safe and happy."
It isn't clear what caused the cybersecurity incident.
Jake's 58 estimates it cost them nearly $2,000,000.
