A state ban on plastic bags is set to go into effect on Sunday.
Most businesses will stop handing out thin, single-use plastic bags. Instead shoppers are being encouraged to carry reusable bags.
Merchants could eventually face penalties, including a $250 fine for a first violation and $500 for a repeat.
